Maya Embedded Language (MEL) Scripts

City Generator & Custom Tools

As part of my independent project for my Visual Effects Programming Concepts class, I began to develop a multi-functional MEL script that would automate repetitive tasks and enable me to work faster when using Maya.
At this time, its most impressive feature is the ability to generate cityscapes and architectural elements very quickly. What would normally take weeks can now be done in hours.

Staircase Generator

The "Staircase Generator" was the first script I wrote after reading the Fundamentals of MEL. Part of an ongoing collection of custom tools, the Staircase Generator uses several numerical inputs to create linear and spiraling stair geometry with the click of a button. This script has been particularly helpful in adding building and cityscape detail. In addition, the geometry created is ready for explosions and demolition using Blastcode. This is version 1.0, but I have ideas for improvement that will be made in the future.
